What’s inside
- BasisLens Stock DNA
- A page for each of more than 5,500 US-listed companies: a short briefing, key figures, and five readings (valuation, quality, growth, price momentum and risk), each described against the company’s industry peers. Open a figure to see its history, where it ranks among peers, and how it compares with the company’s own past.
- Lens, our AI research companion
- On every page. Ask in your own words about a company, the market or your portfolio. Lens works the question through with BasisLens’s own figures, lists its sources, gives the bear case as well as the bull case, and can compare several companies side by side. It describes; it doesn’t give buy or sell tips.
- Portfolio Playbook
- Add your holdings once. It shows what the portfolio rests on and where its readings are weaker, its Portfolio DNA weighted by the money in each holding, a map of every holding, which readings changed each day, and a five-week calendar of earnings dates and market events.
- Market Cockpit
- One briefing on where the US market stands today: its condition in one word, what supports it, what needs scrutiny, and the paths it could take next, written as scenarios, not forecasts.
- Market Map
- Where business is growing across sectors and industries over the last twelve months of filings, whether prices followed profits, and which companies drive each group. Banks, insurers and REITs are measured separately because their figures work differently.
- Strategy Lab
- Start from a goal (a steadier ride, income, growth or value) and see rule-based strategies built from BasisLens readings and company figures, tested on past data: how deep their falls were, and which companies fit their rules today. Results are hypothetical: rules applied to past data with hindsight, with 0.1% trading costs and no taxes, and only companies still listed today could be picked, which flatters them. Past results don’t predict future returns.
- Research reports
- Turn a company page into a dated PDF report of up to 16 pages, with sources listed at the back.
Common questions
- What is BasisLens?
- A research workspace for US-listed stocks. It turns company filings and prices into plain-language readings you can check, with an AI research companion, Lens, on every page.
- Who is it for?
- Self-directed investors in Canada and the United States who research their own decisions.
- Does BasisLens tell me what to buy or sell?
- No. BasisLens is general information. It isn’t tailored to your situation, it isn’t a recommendation to buy, sell or hold, and it never trades for you. What you do with it is always your decision. BasisLens is not registered as an adviser or dealer.
- Does BasisLens give stocks a score?
- No. Every reading is a description in words, such as “Cheap” against its industry peers or “Very strong quality”, never a number out of 100. You can open the figures behind each one.
- What can I ask Lens?
- Questions about a company (“What’s priced in for NVDA?”), several companies side by side, the market, sectors, or your own portfolio. Lens answers from BasisLens’s figures and lists its sources. It doesn’t give buy or sell tips.
- Which stocks does it cover?
- US-listed companies: more than 5,500 have full readings. Other markets aren’t covered yet.
- Where does the data come from, and how fresh is it?
- Company figures come from the companies’ own SEC filings and are added as companies file. Prices update after each US market close.
- How do I get access, and what does it cost?
- BasisLens is in a private beta that is free during the beta. Join the waitlist at basislens.com and we’ll email you an invite when your group is let in. It’s open to residents of Canada and the United States.
- Can I connect my brokerage account?
- No. You type your holdings in, or import them from a CSV file. BasisLens never connects to your accounts or trades for you.
